Requirements and Benefits

The electronic filing system is simple and easy to use. Hardware and software requirements are minimal and inexpensive.

Technical requirements:

1. A personal computer
2. An Internet connection
3. A compatible browser (Firefox and Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 8 and higher)
4. Ability to create PDF documents (Adobe Acrobat or word processing software capable of producing PDF documents)
5. A scanner/copier (optional) for creating PDF documents which do initially exist in electronic format

Other Requirements:

1. Attorneys must be admitted to practice in the District
2. Attorneys must register for a PACER account and request e-filing privileges to obtain an Identification Name and Password that serve as the attorney's signature for purposes of Fed. R. Civ. P. 11 for documents that are filed electronically
